Getting to Portlaoise

Portlaoise is well-served by the national roads network, located about 70km from Newlands Cross on the M7, and on the N7 to Limerick and the N8 to Cork. Connections to the West and South-east are made via the N80, which also passes through the town.

Portlaoise Leisure Centre, which is the location for registration, the swim leg, the bike racking / transition zone, the finish line and the post-race event, is located close to the centre of the town.

Arriving from Dublin / North via the M7, take the first exit for Portlaoise (Exit no. 16).  Follow the direction signage for Portlaoise; after you pass the prison you will come to a roundabout situated at 'Browns' store.  Go straight through, and take a right at the next roundabout, just 30 metres away.  Proceed up this road until you reach the next (mini) roundabout; carry on through here and the race site will be after an immediate right.

Arriving from Limerick/ the South-West via the M7.  Shortly after the M8 and M7 motorways merge and you pass through the M7/M8 toll booth, take the second Portloaise exit (no. 17) and follow the signs for Portlaoise town centre.  Continue through all roundabouts in the direction of Mountmellick (N80).  When you reach the railway bridge, take the right turn immediately before it.  Proceed along this street, taking the right turn at the end until you reach a roundabout.  Take the first turn left and carry on until you reach the next (mini) roundabout; turn left here and the race site will be after an immediate right.

Arriving from Cork/ the South via the M8.  Shortly after the M8 and M7 motorways merge and you pass through the M7/M8 toll booth, take the second Portloaise exit (no. 17) and follow the signs for Portlaoise town centre.  Continue through all roundabouts in the direction of Mountmellick (N80).  When you reach the railway bridge, take the right turn immediately before it.  Proceed along this street, taking the right turn at the end until you reach a roundabout.  Take the first turn left and carry on until you reach the next (mini) roundabout; turn left here and the race site will be after an immediate right.

Arriving from Tullamore/ Midlands / the West via the N80.  Enter Portlaoise along the N80 and continue until you reach the railway bridge at the centre of town.  Take the left turn immediately after the bridge and proceed along this street, taking the right turn at the end until you reach a roundabout.  Take the first turn left and carry on until you reach the next (mini) roundabout; turn left here and the race site will be after an immediate right.

Arriving from Carlow/ South-east via the N80.  Approach Portlaoise along the N80 and continue through the first roundabout at the edge of town.  Continue into Portlaoise along the Stradbally / Carlow Road until you come to the Church.  Take a right at the first roundabout, a left at the next and proceed up this road until you reach the next (mini) roundabout; carry on through here and the race site will be after an immediate right.
